The Impact Of Snow

As I mentioned in my website article: The Impact Of Snow, the UK is in the midst of the most wintery winter for decades. I was snowed-in away from home and this meant my postponing the New Year issue of Wright Time. Snow brings different perspectives to different people – it is neither ‘good’ nor ‘bad’ – and this is the subject of the article (together with a cool video link).

HOW TO MAKE 2010 YOUR MOST IMPACT-FULL YEAR YET

New Year is always full of advice on goal setting and living the life of your dreams. My advice is simple: find one that works!

One possibility for you is this tried and tested formula that works for me:

  1. GET YOURSELF A JOURNAL, for your eyes only. All personal development gurus recommend a journal to make notes of your goals, aspirations, ideas, feelings etc. You’ll find it reveals things about you that you never knew!
  2. REVIEW YOUR 2009 ACHIEVEMENTS. Take some time to note down ALL of your successes and achievements, no matter how small or how big. Notice how good it makes you feel when you look at the complete list and remember all you achieved.
  3. REVIEW THE GOALS THAT YOU HAD FOR 2009 THAT YOU HAVEN’T YET ACHIEVED. Again take some time and make a list of all the things you set out to be, to do or to have in 2009 but did not achieve.  Not so good, eh?!
  4. REVIEW THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN YOUR SUCCESSES AND FAILURES. Based specifically on the 2009 successes and the goals not achieved that you’ve written down, what were the things you did that made the successes successes, and that if you’d applied the same approach to the 2009 goals ‘not yet achieved’ would have made them successes? These are your personal blueprint for success.
  5. SET SOME SMART GOALS FOR 2010. For guidance on setting achievable goals read Coaching Goals – Getting to SMART on my website. Consider each area of your life: Health & Fitness, Relationships & Family, Personal & Spiritual Development, Business & Career, Financial. Limit yourself to 1 or 2 compelling goals for each area
  6. FOR EACH 2010 GOAL, IMAGINE THE GOAL AS-IF YOU’RE REVIEWING IT IN 2011 HAVING ACHIEVED IT. You MUST really light-up at the thought of having achieved it and make sure it makes you feel good now (otherwise go back and create a more desireable goal). Then, whilst feeling good and full of the energy the thought of achieving the goal generates inside of you, note down just the next step towards achieving the goal. This gives the vital momentum for action.
  7. TAKE ACTION … NOW!
